Kevin & Bridget
Hello!
We are Kevin and Bridget.  We are a young, happy couple wishing to start our family by adopting a baby.  We would like to thank you for this chance to introduce ourselves to you. We can only imagine the difficult decision you are faced with in choosing a family for your child.  Considering adoption is a very loving and selfless decision.  We understand your child’s future is what is most important to you as you explore your options.   We realize that adoption is a choice that you make out of love and we admire your courage and strength as you consider the gift of adoption for your child.

Our beginnings…
We met eleven years ago in Wisconsin.  Kevin was playing volleyball with mutual friends, and Bridget was watching from the sidelines.  After the game, we met for dinner with our friends.  From the first night we met, we both knew we felt something special.  We have been married for eight years, and we feel that our marriage is based on love, trust, and respect for each other.  We are both quick to share a smile and enjoy each other’s sense of humor every day.

Why we want to adopt…
Since before we were married, we have known that we wanted to have children and raise a family together.  Unfortunately, we learned we are unable to get pregnant.  We have been blessed with wonderful family and friends and love in our life, and believe that there is a baby that God has intended for us.  We discussed adoption early in our marriage and have always been open to it.  Since Bridget has five cousins who were adopted, we know first-hand how adoption can enrich families and our lives.  We, along with our friends and families, are very excited and look forward to bringing a baby into our life.

Bridget…
I grew up as the oldest of four children in southern Wisconsin.  I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember – I just love books.  Recently I started volunteering at the local library, and I can’t wait to share a book with and read to our child.  I have been a nanny for two different families and am still great friends with both families.  I’ve enjoyed watching the children that I took care of for so many years grow up.  I have just met a new family locally that I am a nanny for as well.

In my spare time, I love to read, bake, take walks, and occasionally work in the yard, and I’ve recently started golfing again.  I can’t wait to be a stay-at-home mom for our child.  I’ve wanted to be a mom for as long as I can remember.

Kevin:  Bridget is always the first to smile and make everyone feel welcome. Immediately, people just feel so comfortable talking to her. She has been a nanny for two families, and in both cases she has become part of their family.  As long as I have known Bridget, she has been excited about and looking forward to becoming a mother.  I have no doubt in my mind she will be an awesome mom.

Kevin…
I grew up in southern Wisconsin as the second-oldest of five children.  With my big family experiences I’ve learned to organize and communicate, which has served well in my career.  I am currently Vice President of Operations for a manufacturing company.  My position allows flexibility in my schedule and priorities to help with any needs our child may have.  I am very excited about becoming a father. For Bridget and I to be able to teach our child and explore the world together will be wonderful.  I’m truly a kid at heart.  Bridget jokes that when we have our first child, she will have two kids to care for.  When the weather cooperates, I enjoy golfing, working in the yard and working on simple landscaping projects.

Bridget:  Kevin is the nicest guy I know.  He always goes out of his way to include people.  He is also extremely funny.  He is incredibly kind and sweet, and I know that he will make a wonderful father.

Our home…
We live in a new four-bedroom, two-story home in a golf course community in northeastern Pennsylvania.  Our street is quiet and usually has children riding bicycles and playing, and families walking around the neighborhood.  We have front and back yards that are ideal for small children to play in.  Our neighbors are very friendly and supportive, and the community plans several social events together.  It is a small-town environment but we are just a short drive from Philadelphia and New York City, and enjoy driving to both of those cities to take advantage of the culture there.

We love animals and share our home with two sweet cats – Fred and Barney.  They have two distinct personalities but are both very affectionate.  They get along great with each other and enjoy being around people.

Our fun times…
We both enjoy traveling.  Our trips abroad together have included Australia and Ireland.  We have also visited many states around the country.  It really is true that you can meet friendly and interesting people anywhere.

Our new home allowed us to landscape and decorate our yard from scratch.  We have a lot of fun experimenting and working together with the lawn, shrubs, and flowers.

We are both Wisconsin Badger fans and for years had season tickets to the men’s basketball games.  College basketball is our favorite sport to watch, and no matter where we are, we try to catch the Badger games.  We have also gone to a few football games over the last few years.  Even though we are in Penn State country, we are still fans and enjoy watching sporting events or attending them when we can.

We have had great times together enjoying movies and sharing good books.  Quiet nights together also include fun board games, cards, or retelling old stories.  We are just as happy spending weekends at home as we are planning activities out or taking day or weekend trips.  We can’t wait for the day we include our child in all that we do!

Our families & friends…
Bridget’s parents, Molly and Kevin, are looking forward to becoming first-time grandparents, and her brothers and sister can’t wait to have a niece or nephew to pamper.  Our Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are usually spent at Bridget’s grandma’s house, with Bridget’s fourteen cousins and five aunts and six uncles.  It’s a full house, but always lots of fun.  The family members come from Wisconsin, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Texas, so it’s always fun to get together and hear what everyone has been up to.  Every Christmas Eve, Bridget’s family has a big holiday dinner and plays games, and then the group goes to midnight mass together.

Kevin’s family is a bit more spread out, but we keep in touch via e-mail and phone calls.  When we can all get together, it is a rare treat and we make a great time of it.

We have many close friends who live in Wisconsin, and we like to visit them as often as we can.  In the short time we’ve been in Northeastern PA, we’ve met great people and friends in our neighborhood and at work.  Some of our local friends and neighbors have young children who will make wonderful playmates for our child.

Open adoption & parenting…
We welcome open adoption, but more importantly, we want to have open communication with you and your family in whatever way is most comfortable for you.  Your child will be raised knowing what a very special path was taken to bring them to us.   We want you to know that we will be open and honest with your child about his or her adoption, and we will let him or her know that your decision was incredibly difficult and made out of love.  We are more than willing to send pictures and letters, if that is your wish, so you will always be reassured of your decision.  We promise to love, adore and support your child for all of his or her life.  Your child will be the center of our lives and will forever be the most important part of us.

When we think about being parents, we think about passing on the unconditional love and encouragement our families provided to us. We want our child to have fun, positive experiences.  We will encourage a love for learning and support their educational needs.  In our home, we will model kindness and respect for one another. We want him/her to know that his home will be a place of safety.  We will support them when they struggle, congratulate them when they do well, and guide them when they make mistakes.  We are ready for both the joy and the challenges parenthood brings.

Thank you!
