Hello!
We are Kevin and Carolyn and are pleased to have you read our profile. We are a loving couple with so much to give. We are looking forward to expanding our family through adoption. We can appreciate what an incredibly difficult decision this is for you to make, and we hope you will find peace in whatever decision you make for your baby. We would be honored to be considered in your adoption plan.
Our beginnings…
We met on a blind date, set up by our friends. As it turns out, Kevin graduated from high school with Carolyn’s youngest sister. Our first date was in 2007 and we have been together ever since. We were married by a pastor at a resort in Jamaica in November of 2008 surrounded by our closest friends and family. We chose this over a traditional church wedding because we wanted to focus on what marriage meant to us.
Why we want to adopt…
In our efforts to start our family, we faced infertility and suffered two miscarriages. We strongly feel that adoption is the path that we were meant to take and look forward to welcoming a child into our home and showering him or her with all the love we have to give. As we began to consider adoption and discussed it with friends and family, we have found that many of them have, in one way or another, been touched by adoption. We are so fortunate to have such loving and supportive friends and family who are just as excited as we are to start our family.
Carolyn by Kevin…
Carolyn is the oldest of three girls and always found herself around kids in one way or another. She is an elementary school teacher. I would describe her as loving, determined, detail-oriented, kind, loyal, and enjoys making people laugh. She has looked forward to being a mother since she was a little girl, and I can’t wait to share this dream with her.
Carolyn enjoys reading, listening to music, researching her family genealogy, long walks, spending time with her sisters and nieces, and sending care packages to the soldiers. While growing up, she enjoyed going on family vacations, spending weekends at the campground, and continuing family traditions of making homemade donuts, strudel, and nutbread from recipes that have been passed down through the generations. Carolyn looks forward to rocking our baby in the rocking chair that was her great-grandmother’s.
Our plans are for Carolyn to stay home with the baby for several months. Being a teacher is the best profession to have as a mother, and we are thankful that she will have summers, snow days and recesses to spend together. When she returns to work, the baby will be with his/her grandmother, and then eventually go to the same day care and preschool as Carolyn’s nieces. The school has proven to be a wonderful environment for the children to socialize, learn, and grow.
Kevin by Carolyn…
Some of Kevin’s hobbies include skiing, golfing, going to professional sporting events, concerts, cultivating a garden, listening to music, and traveling. He enjoys reading about people in the music industry and learning about new technology. Kevin maintains our band’s webpage and is not afraid to try something new. He is always willing to help people. He tore down our old garage to make room for the new one and helped his father put a new roof on their garage. He is close with his brother and even moved to Arizona with him to live for a short time.
Kevin played football and little league when he was a kid. He spent a lot of weekends watching Dallas Cowboys games with his father, mother, and brother. I know how much he looks forward to spending time experiencing all of the “rights of passage” that fathers teach their children, from learning how to walk and build with blocks, to learning how to use tools and create forts, to passing a driver’s test. He will be a wonderful father to a son or a daughter!
Our home…
We live in a spacious four bedroom home in a suburban community where both of us grew up. We have a large yard with plenty of room for a child to run around, play on a swing set, and add other forms of outdoor toys like a sandbox. We have a large kitchen that we spend a lot of time together preparing meals or getting ready to host a party. The front living room already has many toys in it for when our nieces come over. There is a porch in the front, back, and second floor. The front porch spans the width of the house and has a swing where we enjoy having cool drinks on a summer evening after dinner. The porch on the back on the second floor is wonderful for looking out over the neighborhood and looking at the stars at night.
There is an elementary school at the end of the street where Carolyn’s father, Carolyn and her sisters all went, and now her niece attends. On the other end of the street is a community park with a playground, basketball court, and open field. We enjoy spending time there with our nieces playing and having picnics. There are many children that live on our street and in the neighborhood, including our nieces that live within walking distance. We have enjoyed learning from our neighbors who are from the Ukraine.
Our town is very child-oriented by offering a youth soccer program, little league baseball and softball, mini football and cheerleading, and a recreation center. There are many town parks, dance schools, and scouting groups in the area as well as a trail on the dike, near the river that is easily accessible for walking and biking.
Our fun times…
We share a lot of interests, such as traveling, watching movies, going to concerts, helping out in the community, and doing projects around the house. We like to try new things together like zip lining, geo caching, and archery. We often search for things to do in our area that we may have never seen or done before. We can’t wait to share our old and new adventures with a child!
During the spring and summer months we enjoy church bazaars and the Cherry Blossom Festival. We plan day and weekend trips that include historical places, sporting events, and the beach. We tend to work on many indoor house projects during the colder months and turn sledding at Kevin’s parent’s house into a family affair.
We love to travel and have visited Boston for St. Patrick’s Day, Washington DC, Dallas for an NFL game, Atlantic City, and Maryland. Someday we hope to see Ireland, Scotland, and Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It will be wonderful for us to see the world through our child’s eyes!
Many of the holidays are spent with both of our families. They are always child-oriented with activities like bicycle decorating on Independence Day and an egg hunt at Easter. We even turn the egg hunt around and have the kids hide cans of soda for the adults to find.
Our families & friends…
We are surrounded by our wonderful families and friends. Kevin’s parents live approximately five minutes away and are excited about becoming first-time grandparents. They plan on being very active in the baby’s life, especially since they are approaching retirement. Carolyn’s parents are both retired and live in the neighborhood. They are overjoyed with the idea of becoming grandparents for the fourth time. In addition to aunts and uncles, our child will have three cousins… Sierra is 5, Alison is 2½, and the youngest is expected to make her appearance in April. They all live locally and we get together several times during the week. Our baby will definitely have many people in his/her life that will care deeply for him/her.
The friends we spend most of our time with are Carolyn’s co-workers and Kevin’s childhood friends. We are all very close and consider them to be like a second family. We are like an aunt and an uncle to their children and they all can’t wait to be the same for ours.
We are both drummers in a bagpipe and drum band that keeps us busy on and off throughout the year. The band consists of members of various ages and from many walks of life. We are all there for each other outside of band activities, and they are an extended family, instead of just members of the band.
Faith & values…
We both were raised in the Catholic faith and received all of the sacraments. We try to live the best lives we can by respecting others and maintaining the values with which we were raised. We plan on raising our child in the same faith with the same values. We are active in our community and feel it is important to give back. Some of the events that we have participated in are preparing for the celebration of the town’s Sesquicentennial, helping the fire company and police department raise money for the K-9 unit, helping prepare the town pool for the season opening, and helping to clean up the snow for the elderly. We look forward to instilling the value of helping others in our children.
We are planning on providing love, support, and everything that is possible to see that our child meets with success and lives life to the fullest. We would impress upon him, or her, the value of the life that we are all given and to never be afraid to follow your dreams.
Open adoption
We are prepared to work with you at your comfort level of openness in the adoption. You will always have an important place in the baby’s life and heart. We intend to be honest with our child from the beginning and let him/her know how special he/she truly is by having all of us be a part of their life story. We can’t wait to share all of who we are, and all that we have, with such a special baby.
Thank you!
